I would like to get into color change weaving sometime. I have a spool of Madeira FS 4/2 #30 1000m thread. What do the numbers mean? Does #30 mean a thinner thread than #40? What about the ratio numbers? What does 4/2 mean? I'm assuming the 1000m means 1000 meters. Sounds high though. Any help will be appreciated. John Re: Thread size

John - I know the answer but I cannot explain - call them and they will give you all the info you can possibly imagine on their numbering system - so much that I forgot most of it, except this: 1000 meters - correct. the lower the weight number (30, 40, 50) - the thicker the thread. 4/2 is thinner than 7/2, and 2/2 is thicker than 4/2. Got it?? All I know is the FS 4/2 and 5/2 are very similar in size to Gudebrod size A. Bummy - take a look at the color charts for their Polyneon threads. It only comes in 1 size, and that is a fraction smaller than Gudebrod A nylon. There are about 225 colors. The Polyneon is stronger than their Rayon thread. Their website is: madeirausa.com - get the phone number and call them. Billy Re: Thread size

Thanks Billy: I went to their web site and e-mailed them some of the same questions I asked on the board, but I never heard back from them. See you in March. John Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
