All,
What would the better blank be for small weightless plastics?? I dont have CCS numbers for the MB or the APFG, if one has them please chime in. The P700 seems a bit light, would 1/8th ounce overpower it? The MB seems like it has a bit more power to it? But it's hard to compare. No, the P700 will not be overpowered by a 1/8 oz. offering. Re: Bass finesse casting blank

My favorite casting rod for Finesse Plastics (4" Weightless Senkos, Texas Rigged 1/4 oz Craw Papi, 1/4 oz Finesse Jigs, etc.... is the North Fork MB664 HM.
For a little bigger lures like 5" Senkos and 3/8 oz jigs, I like the MB705 HM. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/21/2022 10:41AM by Leonard Bourdage. Re: Bass finesse casting blank

Derick,
I will echo Spencer here also - that the P700 will handle the 1/8 weight range with ease. Best, Aleks Re: Bass finesse casting blank

What total weight are you tossing with the 664? Or do you think it would toss 3/16 total? 1/16 jighead and small 2-21/2 plastics Re: Bass finesse casting blank

I have the 733 and an older Daiwa Aird 100hla..I can barely cast a 1/16th ounce Jighead with a 3 inch Keitec. I don't know that I could do it with a 664. Re: Bass finesse casting blank

The MB664HM can toss any bass lure you would like to, up to 3/8 ounce. More than 3/8, it makes sense to go to a heavier action rod.
The the feel and action of my North Fork MB664 HM is almost identical to my older factory made G Loomis MB663 GLX rod, and my North Fork MB705 HM is almost the same as my G Loomis MB843 GLX. The MB664 HM to me is a great rod for 1/8 to 1/4 oz. slip sinker with a 3.5 inch tube or other soft plastic lure tied on. Sometimes I'll use it for 1/8 oz Ned Rigs when bed fishing. It's an all around great rod for pitching lighter baits up to 3/8 ounce. The MB665 HM, which I also have, I like for 3/8 to 1/2 ounce jigs and plastics. Re: Bass finesse casting blank

Did anyone see the Mudhole vid on BFS rods last night? We certainly don't need to use their components if we choice not to, but there was some information there that may help clarify things from using actual examples of line and lures used, etc. that can be carried over and thought about.
I think it could also carry over to that post about trout jerkbaits. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/22/2022 11:47AM by Spencer Phipps. Re: Bass finesse casting blank

I somehow did not get the notification for the vid. I will watch on lunch break. Thank you. Re: Bass finesse casting blank

I thought it was pretty decent. Good convo on rod tapers of S, SJ and MB in their MHX line and then how the power affects casting and/or protecting light lines from to the moon hook sets ;) so a solid 5-10 minutes of info. They were pretty upfront on Florida BFS focus vs ultralight trout streams. It was much better than watching home shows with the boss. Re: Bass finesse casting blank
