Received some more rods, some of which have the labels on still while others seem to have worn off. The fly rods need some TLC while the spinning rods look to be in decent shape. I dont think any of them are worth anything. One of the fly rods looks to be a 6' 1wt which I cant wait to fix up and try some wild trout with it

Ken,
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. While many would simply consider them just “ol’ rods”, you have an opportunity to experience fishing a part of history!!! Whether they are prestigious, milestone examples or just run-of-the-mill rods, clean them up, replace what is needed and enjoy fishing them. Some might say “what if it breaks?” Then it died a glorious, honorable death serving its intended purpose. One way or the other, ENJOY!!!

Mark,
I totally agree. I took out the SouthBend with the red auto reel yesterday for a test run. I brought 1 rainbow to the net and lost 2. The rod is older than I am but casts pretty good but the age definitely shows. The action is slow and you need a good bit of effort to cast it compared to the graphite rods I usually use. A 6wt is overkill for little trout but it should do well for chucking some streamers for bass. Im gonna try out the 'Lucky Ace' tomorrow on the little stream to see how it does. Its very light and would be fun to catch some bluegills on. The Shakespeare fly rod needs a new grip and seat so I cant test that one out. The 2 spinning rods Ill break out when I go lake fishing, seem decent for bass/catfish.

Definitely not selling them, just a cool piece of fishing history.

Ken,
As with the last word of my previous reply “ENJOY” (but apparently you already are).

This weekend was a bust due to all the rain we got so I wasnt able to try out the 2wt rod. Hopefully some time this week after work.
