I have a ink jet printer. And I can't get the ink to transfer to the cork. Tried 2 types of alcohol and acetone. Does anyone know if laser jet ink solves this? I've read this :
[www.rodbuilding.org] but there wasn't any follow up. Re: Burning cork

Then, don't print on cork.
Rather print on the rod blank. Re: Burning cork

There is an article on laser printing images to cork an a 2021 issue of Rod Maker. Can't remember the exact issue off the top of my head.
Anyone know the issue #? Re: Burning cork

Volume 24 #3. The process outlined does require the use of an Epilog (or similar) printer with rotating axis.

Very sorry guys I should have been more clear. I am trying to transfer from paper that has been printed on to cork. There is a video or 2 out describing this. The link I posted was the only one I could find where someone had trouble. Has to be my ink or the paper. Re: Burning cork

Whenever I've transferred images to cork I've used Liquitex Matte Gel, which is found in places that carry art supplies (Michaels, Hobby Lobby). Just brush it on the cork, press the paper on it and let it dry. Then come back and remove the paper with water. The ink should be left behind. Re: Burning cork

So after online reading I ended up printing on wax paper, same can be done with freezer paper, so they say, shiny side up. A bit of a process but it works.. ;) I just cut a piece of the wax paper the size of a normal sheet and used a glue stick to glue the edges to said normal sheet and fed it to the printer. Then just placed the cut out pic on the cork and viola. Came out with a bit of stippled effect but easily distinguishable. They actually make and sell printable freezer paper. Wish I could post a pic but can't figure that out here. I am registered on the photo page. Re: Burning cork

Have to give it a try sometime. Re: Burning cork

Robert,
If you are registered on the photo page, you go to the photo page and "Log in" with your same name and password used for the forum. Then, click on the link " in yellow" near the top of the page that says - "upload photos". When you click on that link, you will be given a drop down asking for the file location of the picture. Click on the location on your computer or phone where your picture is located, and then click on the picture you wish to upload. You will be asked as to which category you wish to have the file placed and click on the picture. If you wish you can then add a note on the picture - about the contents of the picture if you wish. I don't see any links to upload pics even though I am logged in on the photo site. . I emailed rodmaker to try and fix this but haven't heard back. What I see is Home Member List My Photos My Favorites Profile no messages Logout Those are on the red and yellow links. On the very top I see: Forums FAQ Buy Sell Directory Glossary Library Sure wish I could fix this. I've no doubt it must have to do with the name. Re: Burning cork
