Will PG work as a color preserver? I need to wrap a royal blue thread and I know it will darken significantly when the epoxy is applied. I don't have any CP and don't want to order some if I can get away with it. Re: PG for CP?

PG will also darken thread but not quite as deep as epoxy. Do a test and see if it'll do what you want.

PG didn't work as a color preserver on the royal blue thread. No difference in shade. Re: PG for CP?

If the thread didn't change shade with PG on it, consider it sealed and the epoxy won't change it further.

I did a side by side test with PG + epoxy and epoxy only. They looked the same. I'm just going to use the royal blue with epoxy. They both looked great. I was hoping for a bit brighter blue, like the color it is on the spool. Re: PG for CP?

If you want the color on the spool, use CP. Re: PG for CP?

Hey Mark,
I wish I'd have seen this earlier. I'm assuming you've already done your epoxy work by now. However, for future reference, I have used Modge Podge several times over the years and it works great!
