Hi all, someone asked me to ask you the following: The Rainshadow fly rod blanks - good prices and US build, but how do they perform (in terms of casting and playing fish) compared to other of the more wellknown brands such as St. Croix, Sage, Scott etc ? Thanks Peter Re: Rainshadow fly rod blanks

I'm not one on comparing brands as a whole. There are just too many variables involved. I think you'd have a harder time finding real dogs than finding good performing fishable rods these days. My preference is to judge rods and blanks on their own merits, even though that might seem like a risk when it's time to plunk down the cash. That said, the Rainshadow blanks I've been lucky enough to see have been very good. I've built both an Xcel (9' 5wt) and an IM6 (6'6" 2wt). While different, they both were as good as I was told they were and hold their own in a vast marketplace.
