I did a search here on all dates and found nothing so I hope that this is not a redundant query.
Has any here handled or built on the Northfork FS 741-2? I'd love to hear your thoughts, perhaps compared to other blanks too. Also, I'd love to have the weight if any have the bare blank in hand. Thanks! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/12/2022 09:28PM by Mo Yang. Re: Northfork FW 741-2 blank?

I have one but have not built it yet.
Initial feelings are the ratings are fair. It is a true UL blank. Very much a "buggy whip" and on the slow side (which can be good for an UL blank). Almost has a fiberglass feel to it. FWIW I really like the FW 702-2. Very nice and crisp. A lot faster of an action but certainly not too fast. It is the one I'd recommend, if you can live with a bit more power and heavier casting weights. If I felt I needed to cast 1/32 and fish 1-2# mono I'd feel I had to go with the 741. If lure was 1/16+ I would pick the 702 and it wouldn't be close. Sorry but I don't have a scale. Russ in Hollywood, FL. Re: Northfork FW 741-2 blank?

Thanks Russell.
Not surprised that the 2 power will be more crisp than the 1 power. However, that's rated 4-8lbs while we use 2 lbs test. Interestingly, 741 is of higher modulus carbon fiber than the 702. If the 702 weight at 1.3 oz, that seems heavy for blank of that length and power. Unfortunately they do not list weight for the 741. Thanks! Edited 1 time(s). For 2# test I'd go with the 741. I suppose I should have said something like "it feels like a fly rod" more so than " it has a fiberglass feel to it". The 702 feels more like a spin-jig type blank.
I wouldn't always go by their ratings. If you haven't yet, check out the blank compare app at RodHouse France. It is especially handy if you can compare with something you already own (or can feel in a store). Russ in Hollywood, FL. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
