I'm going to be building several jaw jacker type rods for walleye. I'm a little concerned about the action and length. A typical walleye blank just seems a little too stiff. For any of you who have built some and have suggestions, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks in advance!!

Are you saying you are building ice rods to go into the jaw jacker rod holders?

I've built a few of NFC's LMX Hybrid IP342-1 (3'4", heavy-fast, 8-17#, 3/4-2oz) specifically for larger lake trout. I used one of these a couple of weeks ago in a jigging jaw jacker. It took a bit to adjust the tension on the trigger before I got it right (yes, I got a few welts on the cheek before the setting was where I wanted it, lol). Although this rod's rating is probably a lot heavier than what you're looking for, it worked just fine on the 18" splake- of course, the rod's rebound probably crossed their eyes when the trigger sprung but they stayed buttoned.

The blank Daniel suggest is maybe heavier than I would go personally, but I do like a strong rod in the jaw jackers, nothing worse than losing bait on weak jacker hooksets. I have been using the solid carbon DH customs blanks, the Perch Pond'r and Walleye Sting'r would both work in the jacker and give a good crisp hookset if you don't want to sling fish out the hole on hookset.

I would look at the NFC Hybrid CB 704 Zentron (Delta LMX). The Zentron works like an Ugly Stick in my option and I think would make a great Jaw Jacker rod cut down to size.
