How to coat hand painted acrylic designs on rod blank

Hey everyone

I am an artist for a living and I am now building rods. I am wanting to do some intricate paintings with acrylic paint on an upcoming build. Im assuming for a small design above foregirp it would be fine to coat with epoxy, but what if I were to do a full length rod design? From reading recent posts here it seems covering the whole rod with epoxy is not a good idea and ive seen perma gloss mentioned a few times as well as 2k finishes.

Any other products wor5h looking into ? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Epoxy is not a good rod coating product. Fine for guide wraps but heavy and prone to yellowing over the entire blank. Use the SprayMax or PermaGloss. Any good exterior urethane is very decent as well.

Upon reading your post again, before you use PermaGloss you'd want to seal your painting with something. I fear the PG would eat it. It's quite "hot."

automotive clear coat works well for me. Just spray the entire rod.

Essentially, SprayMax is an automotive clear coat, but in a can with the two parts mixed internally by the user.

CPX-tra from VooDoo Rods is worth a look.
