Hello, I finished a chevron cross wrap, and tied off the ends with size D thread. I should have used size A, but did not have the correct color. I am now attempting to wrap a decorative wrap over the tie off, and the threads are not packing well because they are finding the grooves of the underlying get a good overlying wrap?
Burnish the heck out of tie off wrap, and try again?
Apply a thin coat of Epoxy to the whole thing and wrap over that?
Apply a thin coat of color preserver, and wrap over that?

The decorative overlay wrap is very fiddly, with inserts, color changes, and an olive branch, so I don’t want to get 1/2 way into it and have to start over, which I’ve already done several time :(
In addition, the tie wrap is black and the overlying decorative wrap starts with black,so it is difficult to see if the threads are laying straight, probably should’ve used a contrasting color for the tie off, but it is what it is

Given where you are at this point, a coat of epoxy over the tie-off wrap might be the best option. Just enough to fill in the tunnels between the thread wraps.

Have you tried wrapping in the opposite direction to prevent falling in the grooves?

Might try that next time. Got the epoxy on it now
