Is there a a method for checking dryness of flex coat lite without leaving a big fingerprint on your finish. This was my first rod and was left on the dryer for five hours, when I touched the finish it was not dried and left a fingerprint mark which is somewhat invisible now. I would definately like to avoid this in the future. Second problem I ran into was after the second coat of FC lite which I apllied a little thicker.
The second guide from the top has a noticeable thickness on one side (I'd say a mound or hill for a lack of a better term). Can this be shaved off? Any recomendations on both would be greatly appreciated.

ps got my first issue of Rodmaker And enjoyed it thoroughly.

Just poursome finish into an empty container and let it sit and chek that. I use a thrown out milk carton, lid from a canned veggie, whatever my mom threw out last. Just pour some finish into it and check it instead of teh rod.

About the epoxy sag - I should have an answer by now since I've done that before. If it is a small lump, it could be sanded down on a lathe - for something bigger, sorry. You will get some better responses to the procedure to sand teh epoxy and what needs to be done before re-application of the epoxy - I'm just not all too familiar with it myself.

You should still have some epoxy left in the mixing container. Stick your finger in THAT instead of on the rod's wraps.

For lumps you can sand or file carefully and then recoat lightly.

Well said, patience patience patience, also if cannot manage that use your plain side of your nail , softly touch the side with epoxy and "feel".
Also remember that might take as long as a week to "COMPLETELY " cure , so no pressure aplied.

For the lump, after the exopy is hardened, get a NEW exacto blade and carefully "shave" it off. Be sure to shave extra off. It will look terrible when you get done and you will think that just applying another coat of epoxy will not hide that, but it will (at least with crystal coat and ls supreme). The epoxy "melds" together and you never knew there was a problem. Just be carefull, not to get into the threads. If you do, rewrapp is in order. Just another option.
