When doing say a diamond pattern just above the grip, i lock the threads down with a D size wrap at the top and the bottom but because that wrap is going over the diamond, its very difficult to lay the threads next to each other. Are there any tips to doing this? Im playing with the idea of a very simple locking wrap, epoxy coat to level things out and then do my final wraps.
Thanks Re: Locking down a diamond pattern

The easiest thing to do is make the tie-off a double wrap. Wrap over and to the end, then double the thread back over itself and wrap back to about where you started. Once you apply finish it will look just like any other single layer wrap, but without any gaps or unevenness
