Do you know where I can purchase or who still makes these components of detachable fighting butt for bamboo fly rods? A complete set of reelseat, end cap, detachable tube, and rubber button?

Like this one: [cdn.shopify.com]

Thanks

Alex,
Does your fighting butt require being built specifically for bamboo rods? I cannot imagine what the difference would be, but then, I am not an avid fly angler. I will be following your post to learn from the veterans such as Phil Erickson and Herb L. I am here to learn.

The image looks more like an addition to make it a two handed rod, rather than a fighting butt. I am not aware of a source for the components. Additionally, the rod appears to maybe be fiberglass rather than bamboo. If so, either the fiberglass or bamboo forum might be able to help.

That's an older rod, probably from the 1960's. Those type components aren't available anymore although you might find an old salmon rod that sports them and carefully remove them for your own use.

Hello Alex.

You could make one yourself, using an aluminum tube, a cork grip, and a butt like a1,5 RVB from MudHole.

I'm with Tom if you can't find a used one, it will be hard to find a new one.

But you could make something close with a tube, a grip, and a fighting butt.

I don't do that kind of work any more, but it should not too hard to figure out.

Good Luck, and let us know what you end-up with please.

Alex, Being a Machinist I love a challenge like this. You should be able to build what you want off of something like a Channel Lock Ferruled Reel Seat set up from Mudhole and a fighting butt of your choice and some scrap rod blank pieces. Take a look at them and let us know.

Good Luck

Rodon used to make something similar but it was a screw in setup. There is a threaded adapter fit into the seat the then the fighting butt screwed into that. I thing I still have one or two. I’ll dig for it for pics if you need a visual.
