Hi All: I am looking to build a couple of tautog/blackfish rods being that this is the time of year where they can be fished. Can anyone recommend a good blank with specs that I can use for this purpose? I believe a fast action, 20-30lb blank is a start. I like American Tackle but I am open to any brand that will give me a good quality rod.
Thanks Re: tautog/blackfish rod blank recommendation

Sal check Grumpy's Tackle in Seaside, they have a full inventory of parts, and a lot of blanks. Abd everyone who works there is highly skilled at blackfishing. I do rod building seminars there in the winter, and I designed the line of blanks that Norm recommended above. Re: tautog/blackfish rod blank recommendation

Thank you Bill, I will definitely check them out. I think I am going to make two blackfish rods even if the season is coming to a close.

Hey Bill, what do you think about the Rainshadow blanks for Taug? If so, any recommendations on which one?
I like the geek rod blank, but I can get Rainshadow for a better price. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
