Diawa goldcast. Very high quality. Probably best drag of any push button reel. Only negative us line capacity is a little low

Abu used to make one, and still may, with a much wider hole the line went through, the Abumatic, I have seen them used foe steelhead fishing, so the line capacity wasn't an issue,

Jeffery,
Your post reminds me of a time many years ago with my then three small children. We were all fishing. The three children all had push button reels. First one, and then another and finally the third child had another issue with their push button reel.

I asked each of the kids for their rods. I removed each reel from the rod and took each reel and threw it as far as I could. I then said to each of the kids, "This is the last time that there will ever be a push button reel on my boat."

Then, I took about 30 minutes to teach child how to use a spin casting reel and never looked back.

But, to each his own.

Thanks Roger, those memories are darn near sacred to me. My brother just doesn't get the spinning reel, he's now living and fishing with me so I have to come up with something.

Lynn. thanks for the suggestion. It'll be here tomorrow.

You might try a zebco omega ZO3PRO. It has worked well for me. It does not have a on/off antireverse, so no back reeling.

I did a ton a research and bought the Zebco Omega Z03, it hasn't twisted line or let me down yet. It was between the Abu top of line, the Daiwa Goldcast and the Z03. I can't remember why but I think the Goldcast didn't have anti reverse, tho it may have that now. Not that it matters, I could give a hoot about IAR now. Just another bearing to break. I think any of the "good ones" will work OK. I use 8 or 6LB line, so line length is not an issue and it's a panfish reel anyways. I'm not targeting big bass, that is what my 5000's is for.
