Some good options there.

Adam, I mentioned those BNHG guides but also said they probably aren't your best choice depending on things like the line used.

The Minima's and REC Recoils are certainly viable options. Many use them with braid. They wouldn't be my choice unless using mono. I would suggest going with what Rick mentioned. As Tom said they were originally targeting wire/monel line. Today you can get them in a suitable frame for your needs and they are a tough high performance option. Really much better than those old school guides IMHO.

But hey, those old BNHG's do have that cool retro thing going if that floats your boat mate. I just think you can do a LOT better.....or I wouldn't be bringing it up again.

I will definitely look at these options too.
This rod is mostly just a workhorse rather than something fancy so price and functionality are high considerations.
The main reason for building this rod is that no-one makes 12 foot overhead fibreglass rods anymore. At one point here in Aus they were as common, if not more so than egg beaters (spin rods). I learned to fish on overheads and I just prefer them.
I'm also a sucker for the retro look, hence the fibreglass rod.

I’ve sent you the guides, and I took some off another rod as I wasn’t happy with a bit of rust on some of them. I hope they will suit your needs.

American Tackle has a series called the Vortex Air, they also have one called the Airwaves (formerly Microwave Air). These are excellent guides with enough options to suit any build. I have some Airwaves on some freshwater Trout rods and do not see any fall off in casting distance between them and the Microwave guides with the ceramic rings.
