Fuji NS Type Plate Seat

I know there a lot of experienced surf fishermen and surf rod builders on this forum so I'd appreciate your thoughts. I've seen these plate type reel seats on custom surf rods and I find them very attractive. I was curious about the strength of the latching mechanism as compared to say a spinning reel seat which has a hood tightened by a "nut." Any problems with the latching mechanism releasing by a bump or during a hard cast? Thanks!

I've never had one come loose or pop open. It's a pretty good design all the way around.

Hang on for a bit and see what others have to say about their experiences with them.

I like them too.
Use them on some of my own rods
Off hand a 10' 1-4oz for a Tranx, with a black NS7 seat.
I hid the front and rear wraps under Japanse shrink, crouching dragon hidden real seat
