Thanks.

Have not built on one of Matt's bamboo blanks - yet. I have built up several of Proof's glass rods, purchased seats and supplies over the years, and found Matt to be a straight shooter who ships timely. I am inclined to think the bamboo blanks are what Matt represents them to be. One of the Proof bamboo blanks might be my winter build this year.

Proof and Matt, trustworthy, responsive, good tips/info on the web site. Products are as represented, but I have not tried the bamboo blanks.

Proof seems a trustworthy source and vendor or quality, value offerings. Swift also has bamboo blanks from time to time, and Hook and Hackle. Personally, I would trust any of these, but I would beware of Chinese offerings on @#$%&.

Any other quality and well priced sources / makers of bamboo blank you would suggest?

And about how much a 3pc 2tip 8" blank should be? I saw Proof at $750, some are a bit lower at ~650.

2pc blanks are much cheaper but too bad I'd prefer 3pc for the ease of travel.......

Thanks.

Alex,
Unless allowing to be taken advantage of, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I purchased a bamboo blank from Johnny Klune (RIP) of Anglers Roost for ~$150.00; it was adequate and I felt I got what I paid for; but it was certainly far from perfect. Considering the immense amount of hand labor and specialized tooling required to properly fabricate a cane, bamboo blank, $500.00 does not seem out-of-line to me. The differences are obvious concerning the attention to detail and the origin of manufacture. While pricing may be dependent on “what the market will bear”, also consider “let the buyer beware”.
