Figurewood maple for grips

The post from the other day prompted this post.

I have a 24" x 18" x 6" block of figured maple I harvested years ago when I logged. It was rejected by the violin manufacturer due to one little bird peck. Other than that it is high grade flame. I don't intend to use it for rods, though I have thought about it. If I were to cut it into sections for builders to lathe what is the typical stock dimensions. How much are they worth?

1 1/4" square by 8" length for fly rods.

Thank you. I will likely cut them for this vs making veneer.

You may want to cut them to longer lengths for most that turn on the lathe, 18" or 24 inch would be a better length. You can always cut it down, but it is tough to add on to the blank.
