I am Building a 9' 8wt MHX Fly rod (Mudhole Turn-Key Kit) first build. I will be using the rod for light saltwater application. I have read and watched youtube videos on guide spacing but am wanting to see if there are any other theories that I may have missed. Just trying to be efficient as possible with this build. Thank you in advance. Re: Guide Spacing - Fly Rod

The "best" guide spacing varies with the diameter and flexibility of the line being used. Best spacing even varies with ambient temperature, which makes a noticeable difference in fly line flexibility. You can try to "tune" your guide spacing to a particular environment and line. I copy the spacing used by company-built rods with guides spaced for general use. BTW: I think you will be pleased with the rod blank you have selected. Re: Guide Spacing - Fly Rod
