I have no experience with Echo but have used a Lamson Guru, series ! I think, in salt for a few years now and have had no problems whatsoever. It looks and works like new. They are so simple it's scary, but they work.

I should point out that the drag works beautifully on the long powerful runs of bonefish.

Never used an ECHO, but I love my Lamson Guru.

The Lamsom drag system is a lot higher class than ECHO reels I think , could be wrong ,

My Lamson Litespeeds are 25+ years old and still going strong, worth every cent many times over. From what I understand they all have the same drag system, no matter the price point.

Lamson. They use the same sealed drag on all their reels including the less expensive ones.
