Any idea where I could find a tip top with a tube size .8mm and 1.0 mm (which is a 2/64 and 2.5/64)? I want to make a few ice rods and the tip top on the blanks are very small.
Thanks Dave Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/21/2021 06:24PM by David Luttig. Re: Small tip top tube

I can never find the tops I use for my surf rods like the T-MNTT 6-F 2.6 or 2.8 so I always order from oversea's vendors . If you can't locate any sizes that will work from the vendors on the left side of the page you won't have any trouble finding exactly what you want from oversea's outfits. Edited 1 time(s). Could you shoot me an email with the names of some of the oversee outfitters?

According to this vendor - [sea-guide.com],. the FT tip top - "The tube I/D size can be customized to meet your specifications" Might be worth it to contact them. Tight Lies and frisky fish RJF Re: Small tip top tube

My apologies, I should have included in my original post that I am looking for the fly rod tip top style.
Thanks again, Dave Re: Small tip top tube

I use a single foot fly guide, using a Dremel to dress up the foot. I hold the guide in place with a small glow in the dark plastic bead, then press the guide in place, pinching the guide and bead onto the rod tip. I then mix some epoxy with a glow in the dark powder, and put a small amount of the epoxy mix over the bead while it turns. This will form a bead of glow epoxy over the bead/guide, and create a glow tip that you can easily see while fishing. It will hold the tip top in place. It works great for tight line ice fishing. An idea might be to buy and only use the top ring : [www.mudhole.com]. It has very thin diameter and fly rod tip Re: Small tip top tube

I check with my caliper and it is 1.06 mm or 0.042.5 Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/22/2021 03:00PM by Terje Bendiksby. Re: Small tip top tube

I think I will try the sportsman direct tip tip. I would like the size 8 but it looks like they are not available so I will make do with the #6. Thanks Roger!! Re: Small tip top tube

David, if you would prefer the size 8 ring on your tip top, why not add a layer of thread to build it up to fit a tip with a size 8 ring? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
