Everyone will be starting with the same American Tackle mystery blank. You have to figure out the best way to utilize the blank in your style.

Completed rods will be judged at the International Custom Rod Builders Expo (ICRBE) in Winston Salem NC, USA on February 26 & 27, 2022. Judges will be announced no later than 1 week before the Expo begins. The top 10-15 rods will be chosen by a committee of builders (separate from the judges) and every judge will score each of the top rods.

The 2 piece mystery blank is purchased through American Tackle direct for $75 in the US and $100 international with shipping included and will be shipping 9/1/21. During 9/1/21-2/25/22 contestants may order components directly with American Tackle to complete their rods. You will receive a considerable discount on the components.
· You must use at least 50% of the mystery blank provided
· Build the rod as you think it should be built
· Rods will be graded on overall appearance and functionality
· No social media posting of your work before the competition.

· Guide Placement
· Guide Straightness
· Threadwork
· Finish Application
· Cleanliness
· Design
· Choice and flow of components
· Innovation
· Handle Design

Trophies and gift certificates to American Tackle will be awarded for places first, second and third. 1- $1000, 2- $500, 3- $250
