North Fork HM versus X-Ray - Comparison Opinions Please

I recently purchased an X-Ray blank and was considering ordering a HM model from North Fork. Just looking for opinions from those that have built and used both. The X-Ray I have is nice, really nice. If I purchase a HM model (sanded) is it of the same quality. I own a few older pre-Shimano Loomis GLX's and love them. I'm hoping the HM's are similar with a smooth sanded finish and crispness. The X-Ray's are as good as the High End Loomis's but are not sanded so they have a real subtle ribbed texture to them.

I came here this morning to post a similar question. I ordered the MB 706-1 (HM) GLX2 remaster to build for a customer who was sponsored by GLoomis when these were hot on the scene. He is excited about it but I am skeptical because he is getting two X-ray builds as well.

Leonard, check out the new polished X-ray. Smooth finish now and offered in a lot of the models.

Just ordered a couple rods to add to the arsenal.

An X-Ray (Black Mirror) in SB 683 to serve as a spinning rod for skipping tubes and ned rigs around docks.

And, a MB 705 HM (sanded) to be back up for my old GLoomis MBR843C GLX casting rod which is a great rod for Jigs and Senkos.

Hi, longtime viewer here finally signed up. Thanks for the acceptance. You will be very happy with the hm line from north fork. I have built on several hm blanks. Unbelievable blanks.
