uninformed information

There is a steady stream of fly rod reviews which never mention the line (weight and taper) used in the test casting or the casting style (waving or hauling). That's much like advertising a car while ignoring the engine.

I have noticed the same thing Phil, I believe they think that it will effect sales. They could at least offer a line type that would work best. The only thing I have seen close to that is them saying something like "made for the new half size heavier lines" but nothing about taper or head length. It still is just "buy it and see". You can go broke real fast.

After more than six decades of fly fishing, testing new types of lines for a fly line manufacturer, and collecting a peck basketful of old fly lines I have discovered no-name imported fly lines on the internet. I haven't had or used any of them enough to speak to durability but they cast as well ( or better) than brand-name lines costing five times as much. This has slowed my progress toward bankruptcy and promoted domestic tranquility since these no-names cost less than $20 - including postage!

I have never been able to get consistent life out of the same brand/model/size of fly lines. This is on the same rod with same guides, while fishing the same river during the same season of use. I’ve noticed this across three makers.

That's much like advertising a car while ignoring the engine.

Car ads almost never mention the engines. Suburu doesn't even mention the car.
