I cannot find the string of posts in which I mentioned that my Rainshadow Eternity RX10 EFES72MF weighed 1.55 oz, but I correct that post with its re-checked weight of 1.7 oz, (two different electronic scales) which is essentially what the specs say it should be. My first reading must have had the blank "leaning" on something. The CCS data remains, with multiple rechecks, quite different from the specs with power over 500 grams and AA 80. It seems like a great blank, but faster and more powerful than the specs. In the past I have correlated well with both Rainshadow and Anglers Resource. I would be interested in the data from others and from rechecks from Rainshadow.

I assume you're referring to model ETES72M-SS. I double checked the measurement on that model and immediately found a problem. The forward brace location mark was an inch too close to the butt (should be at 10% of blank's length) which would cause a lighter IP measurement and a slower AA. After that issue was corrected my numbers came out as: IP 477 and AA 78. This still doesn't match your measurements exactly, but that's what our measurement setup produced. Causes of the discrepancy may be caused by one of the following: our rod fixture does allow the blank to roll to its weakest orientation, and/or there is some variation in how much tip section is used to measure AA. I tend to use about 2 inches of tip section. If you were to look at only an inch it may speed up the AA measurement, but I find in makes it more difficult to see. Just my guesses. -Geoff

Geoff-Thank you very much for your input. I'm essentially getting the same numbers you are with the orientation of the blank so that it's being loaded in its weakest orientation, although there doesn't seem to be much difference in the numbers with other orientations. I'm getting 485-79. 78-79-80 AA is much more representative of this blank than 75, IMHO. This is going to be a very interesting build.

I think I know where my error came in. With its power, and with it's very fast/soft tip, the tip is essentially out of the game as the tip gets close to the 1/3 the length deflection, so any error in measuring the loaded dimension results in significant weight difference. I think I screwed up on that measurement.

My angle indicator is within 3/8 inch of the tip, right against a tiptop, and is fastened with standard masking tape, probably about 5/8 inch. I use an electronic level/angle indicator, so I expect I'm accurate there within a degree.

May I ask another question: Does the orientation of the label mean anything relative to the spline? And I would like to comment that labels placed where you and others put them have to come off when doing most split grips. I think the only solution is to make the labels shorter, about 1 1/2 inch and located right at the butt.
