Reversing a CRB rod dryer

Hello I am wondering if there is any "easy" way to reverse the motor rotation on a CRB variable speed dryer motor with a slip clutch? I did a search but was unable to find any specific answer and I am wondering if maybe there are new developments. My single speed dryer motor would randomly run in opposite directions each time I turned it on, but this new one does not do that.

I am trying to minimize the undesired rotation of the marbelized epoxy after I set it in the dryer.

Bob,
The new variable speed dryers probably use DC motors which are easier to vary the speed than AC motors. But the DC motors will always turn in the same direction unlike the “random” direction of the AC motors every time it is turned on (and,no, I cannot explain it; some AC motors do while others don’t). It is very possible to install a reversing switch on a DC motor but can be confusing to some folks as the wires have to be “crossed” on the back of the switch. Roger Wilson may be able to help you more than me.
I really like and employ the random rotation direction of the “old” motors. I will often change the direction every 5-10 minutes for the first hour and then every half hour for another 2 hours before letting it run in one direction; I believe it helps even-out the epoxy. While it may not be a game-changer, it helps.

Bob,
Yes, of course, this is a very easy task to complete.

Simply use a double pole double throw switch of your choice, cross wire it, hook it into the wiring between the controller and the motor and you will be good to go.

For example:

or:

Or any other 6 contact double pole double throw switch of your choice.

Then, cross wire it:
Here is the schematic diagram to wire the switch:
[rollertrol.com]

Basically connect the motor controller wires to the center terminals on the switch ( + and - wires).
Then, take a pair of wires and form an X from the front two terminals to the back two terminals.

Then, connect the motor to either end of the two switch contacts on one end of the switch and you will be set.

If you like, you could just drill a hole in the base of the dryer to mount a toggle switch and then do the wiring from the controller to switch to the motor.

Should only be about a 15 minute job.

Best wishes

p.s.
If you like, you can purchase this switch:

This switch already has the X wiring installed so you only have to put dc power on the center set of terminals and the motor on the other set of terminals.

Roger to the resume! Very nice diagram easily describing the crossing of the wires on the switch.

before you change direction of motor it would best to stop the motor from turning then change direction of rotation, I think could be wrong ,
