RodGeeks CARBON 4 SERIES - C4711XHF

Checking to see if anyone has experience with this blank. I have built on the HMF which has a lure rating of 1/2 - 2oz. The XHF (same length) lure rating jumps up to 3-8oz, however the tip size is the same as the HMF and the butt diameter is only .620 in (.056" more than the HMF). To me it seems like this blank is no where near the 8 oz rating and should cap out around 3oz.

I am considering it for a punch rod application. Intuitively I think it would be good, however the lure rating seems way off and is throwing me off. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

A faster blank would have similar tip sizes as a mod fast, the XH is 1/2 oz heavier, thats a lot of graphite.

I would say your right, the sweet spot is around 3 to 4oz. With that said I’ve casted a 6.5oz swimbait but i have to more or less lob it out there. It’s a strong rod and would work for punching. I hook up with a king mackerel without any issue.
