Pac Bay ReelSeat Variations??

Going through my box of components getting everything together for another build. I am using a Pac Bay skeleton with a wood/acrylic insert. I have a fair number of seats in all the colors. I plan on using black for this build probable. Anyways of the black seats I have two different styles. On style has a kinda oval section of nylon exposed in the metal of the hoods stamped pac bay. The others have a round section of exposed nylon in the hoods and no labeling at all. I have some silver ones and some bronze they all have the pac bay stamping. Now I am wondering what I have just a variation or a unknown seat. Quality wise the non labeled actually seem to have a bit better fit and finish. Just concerned they might not have the structural integrity I have come to expect.
I bought the seats from a well known reputable dealer. Have had them for a bit but can't say exactly when I got them. One of the seats I surely wont use. It is one that is not labeled and it was taken off something. Got a glue line on one edge and inside has obviously been sanded. Hopefully the other unlabeled seats are a variation and not a knockoff. Lesson learned to always check what I order so I can ask questions of the seller then. Appreciate any thoughts. Re: Pac Bay ReelSeat Variations??

Michael,
If the quality looks fine and if they fit, then use them. Best wishes. Re: Pac Bay ReelSeat Variations??

Their current catalog shows hoods with both designs. I suspect that they source their seats from a couple different suppliers, and that is reflected in the hood design. I've used their standard pipe-style spinning seats, and trigger seats in the past. Those seats have hoods with the round cutouts. It seems that the images of the skeleton seats in the catalog use the oval cutout hoods. Try one of each on your threaded barrel, as one may fit a little better.
I'm not inclined to believe that you have knock-off seats if they came from a reputable supplier. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
