Wondering if anyone has blank recommendations, I'm looking to match the NRX 872 g-loomis rod, for tubes/jigs ect. Also if anyones built a jerkbait rod with their blanks, I dont mind cutting them down, something that would be 6'10" to 7' range.
Thanks in advance! Re: Northfork Composites blanks

I'm very interested in this as well, as I think the NRX 872s and 852s rods are the best jigworm/shakeyhead rods out there. I can say that the xray MB733 is lighter powered and slower than those rods and I didn't really enjoy fishing jigs on it. I'm building a point blank 73Mxf, which I am sure is more powerful than the nrx's, but having not fished it yet I can only assume how it will perform. Re: Northfork Composites blanks

Shaun, do you happen to know the CCS numbers for the NRX872? Knowing them might give us a better idea of a blank that might match. You have to remember most of us here are rod builders and do not buy or use commercially made rods. We fix them, but for the most part don’t use them. I have not bought or used a commercially made rod in over 50 yrs. Point Blanks are phenomenal blanks and I have built and used most of them. The PB731MXF is one of my favorites, and the PB731MLXF is a little less powerful, but still has plenty of power in the butt section.

If memory serves me correctly the NRX rod's are contributed to Steve Rajeff's design prowess using Shimano tech so I don't think you will find an NFC blank that's a close match . I would think the X ray blanks would be the series that performed on that high level but Peter says the model he used was not a close match so I don't know . Re: Northfork Composites blanks

I don't have the numbers for an NRX unfortunately. After looking through NFC the best I think I can come up with would be extending a sj 704(IM) or extending the MB 704 (HM). Might just try both to see, was just curious if anyone had come up with one before I tried. Re: Northfork Composites blanks

Every time I run into a discussion on "What's your favorite rod" on various different general angling forums I always see the NRX inshore rods as being the ultimate and it's by a very large margin. I would expect incredible performance for inshore rods that sell northward of $600.00 . The ' Conquest' is also spoken very highly of .
The below comment courtesy of Gary Loomis: "The high-modulus, high-strain-rate, extremely light rods are usually a rod manufacturer’s high-end product, these rods are the ultimate in responsiveness and sensitivity, and they cost a lot more than the average fishing rod" My guess is the NRX and Conquest use higher percentages of the higher modulus carbon fiber in their manufacturing than much of the competitions lower priced competitors which can use a minimal amount and still be legally allowed to call it a 'High modulus' rod. Higher cost materials and great design and engineering can produce truly spectacular performing rods but you won't find them in what many would consider the affordability category . SIDE NOTE: I have a feeling that something is incoming so I will answer what I know is inevitable right now . The answer is 'No' , there is no measured scientific data confirming the above comments . All info comes from individual users of said products. Re: Northfork Composites blanks

Shaun,
The closest to the flex profile of the NRX would be the SB 722 in the NFC Lineup: [northforkcomposites.com] Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
