Under wrap and CP

I want to do an under wrap in a yellow but i need to put down a CP so i keep the original color as much as possible. My question is, is there anything wrong with putting the CP on and then wrapping the guide? The reason i ask is because if i wait until the guide is on i don't see how I can get good coverage of the CP under the ring area. Maybe I’m missing something. Btw, it will have black over the yellow so the black will not require CP

Know that yellow on a dark blank, even with CP may disappoint, so test first.

As Lynn said, you can make the underwrap, apply the CP, let dry and then do the overwrap.

The problem of a light color on a dark blank is not only dependent on the effectiveness of the CP but also dependent on the packing of the thread. Make sure to pack it tightly to eliminate any "peak through" of the blank color which can look like splotches of dark.

Just did a test on one Fuji orange with a silver thread under and one Fuji orange with a gold under. Watching the epoxy dry now. It is fantastic. The orange without the underlay was flat and frankly ugly. Thanks Jim Ising from the Gator color post. I'm going to Auto Zone tomorrow for some silver and gold pin striping paint.
