Toy decal

I have a guy who wants a decal of a particular excavator. I found some toy decals of the machine he wants. Is there any reason not to use one of these decals as long as a good topcoat finish is applied?
Thanks!
Dave

My instinct says yes, but to play safe I would test one of the decals on a scrap piece of blank. It is not that much effort and may avoid a lot of grief.

Have fun

Dave,

Just give the decal a couple of coats of color preserver and let it dry over night and you will be good to go...no problems at all.

Not all decals are the same, especially in the resistance to color fade and color change after sun exposure. If the decal is printed with inkjet printers, most likely it will not last that well. If done by a source like Decal Connection, it most lilkely will last very well. If you can find info on UV resitance, that will give you a clue. Otherwise, it's a crap shoot.

I have played around with some decals and used some "cheap" ones from amazon and such. I found that putting down a thin coat of finish then the decal always makes it lay better. The cheaper decals always seem to have thick cut edges or even a semi upturned edge that likes to stick up into the finish and can cause a air bubble. just what I have found in my tests.
