I think the choice of a fly line is more important than the choice of a fly rod for the average fly fisher. I know it is for me. All this hogwash about "powerful" or a "delicate" fly rod does is mislead and confuse the would-be fly caster. There isn't a fly rod made that can "bow-and-arrow" cast an unweighted fly ten feet, no matter where you put the guide or the spline or the straightest axis or if the rod is made of a rhodium-einsteineum alloy. Phil, you cannot separate the two! Good line, lousey rod wont work and good rod lousey line is just as bad. Pair good ones and you have a winner. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
