Had good success with generic carbon fiber tubes ordered off internet from drone suppliers. A 3ft stick is like $20 compared to a 14 inch piece for the same money from rod making sites. Have used various methods to transition to the reel seat but over time I seem to get a bit of flex at that junction. Mudhole carries a dual tenon reel seat adapter for the new Fuji G2 carbon grips that I love. They are rock solid but only come in one size and some of the wall thickness on generic tubes require that I turn the Handle tenon down on a lathe and I wont have my lathe access now that Im retired. Any advice?

Make your own. Not hard to do. We covered this in RodMaker maybe 8 to 10 years ago. I'd to go back and find the "how to" article but remember the title as "Make Your Own Carbon Tubing."

Thanks Tom that article is what led me down the carbon fiber rabbit hole. I made a few and loved the look but dont really have a place to do extensive epoxy projects. Where I live now has me making rods in a small spare bedroom instead of the full shop I had when I was working. Great info and love the site. Re: Carbon Tube casting handle adapter for size 16 seat

The EVA shims from Batson work well. I always use a short piece of foam arbor next to the reel seat to tube joint with tube based handles regardless of whether the connecting shim is EVA or aluminum. The arbor prevents the flex, and the EVA shim provides a forgiving connection. Any modifications can be made using a drill and sand paper. Re: Carbon Tube casting handle adapter for size 16 seat

Has everyone noticed the variety now? Pac Bay, Thrasher and others have tube patterns up to 12K now for sale. If you're using the Aero seat going to the 17 mm size which is about a 1/10th inch larger may cure your problem. If not maybe the trick used at Lamiglas on their tube grips may help. It's in pictures on their website, they have been doing it for 15 years, or so, check out the SI rods. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
