ccs jig / rod holder ideas

I’d like to create something to hold my rods against my wall for common cents system testing.
Saw some posts that referred to pics in the photo gallery but I can’t seem to search it. So wondering if anyone has direct links or can describe what they used. Currently I’m just using a table as my holder... which works but want to take advantage of the wall space I have. Thanks!

I use the old Duplicator from Backlash Tools which shares a similar design. It's great for comparing blanks/rods side by side, performing static tests, and CCS measurements. I would recommend mounting it to a board that will span the gap between a pair of studs, as you can generate some significant torque with more powerful rods. I was fortunate to find a short wall with studs spaced just right in my basement, but that would be the exception rather than the norm.

I made a jig out of some scrapes I had laying around. Basically it is a piece of plywood with dowel rod and a T-track with a dowel drilled in the center to accept a handle with a 1/4-20 bolt in it so you can adjust or different rod blank diameters. I carved out a small section on each dowel so the rod blank wont roll around.

I just use a reinforced metal utility self bracket 12”LX8”H. Screw it to the wall so it’s level and attach the blank using reusable tie wraps. Easy, cheap and it works.

Thanks everyone!

Joe/john that style looks to pretty versatile. I like how you can adjust the angle in small increments. I have a Scotty rod holder that I was going to mount but the degrees between each swivel position is bit large for my liking.

Norm, so are just shimming the blank on the brackets during times when it is not level?

Yes, it doesn’t take a lot to shim a blank so it’s level. The reusable tie wraps hold the blank securely to the 1” wide bracket, so it doesn’t move. The 12” bracket length allows for blanks up to 10’ long. I have the bracket 5’ above the floor. I use a digital angle gauge and level for leveling the blank and measuring the AA. A tape measure is used to measure deflection. Nothing fancy but it works just fine.
