Thread Color on An Older G. Loomis NRX?

I had a customer bring by an older G. Loomis NRX casting rod by with cracked epoxy on a couple of guides. Can anyone help me out with the thread they used to wrap the NRX guides? The newer NRX has a light blue thread; but these are wrapped with a blue-green thread. i thought I found a close match with some Fish Hawk thread and re-wrapped the two guides. The only major problem was the Fish Hawk threads was not color fast and I didn't put on any color preserver before applying the epoxy! You guess it .... it turned totally dark and now I am faced with a redo! Bummer. I tried contacting G. Loomis / Shamano and the hold time is outrageous ..."due to technical difficulties"!

Blue Dun NCP is correct. No idea what brand Loomis used, but I used fuji and thought the match was pretty good.

I recently built a buzz worm rod for fishing grass using an American Tackle Bushido CB72/10-20 with American Tackle component to look like exactly what you're talking about. I used ProWrap 434 thread for the project and it came out as close as you can get.

Here is a link to the rod: [www.rodbuilding.org]

Wow, I knew that color looked familiar , I wasn't sure what the 434 Pro Wrap color was but I just looked it up and it's their 'Maui Surf' color which is what I just wrapped my latest surf rod build with . I complemented it with the 'Neon Yellow' 122 for trim rings and I think it looks great .

I'm half color blind and the 413 'Island Lagoon' color looks identical to me to the 434 .

Spence,

That is the color of the Fish Hawk thread that I used. I just didn't use any color preserver, before I applied the epoxy. It turned dark blue. Maybe I'll have to give it another thy with color preserver.

Thanks for your reply,
Don

Peter,

It is an older NRX and the thread has a green/blue thread on it. maybe it's just aged?

Last one I fixed I used Fuji Blue Dunn NCP. It matched just fine.
