Clear coating for rod signature

Just finished an inshore rod. Northfork composites SW 703.
Would appreciate suggestions regarding what to use to coat my signature.

Tried epoxy and flex coat in the past and didn’t like the results.
What are you using?
Appreciate suggestions.

I put my signature on a piece of scotch tape. That way I can write it flat rather than write on a curved surface. I apply the tape to the rod, coat with CP, and then apply epoxy. Seems to work well for me.

Albert,

After scribing the rod, I let the ink dry for an hour. Then, I coat the guide wraps and signature with flex coat. The one caveat that I use is to let no brush or spreading tool work in the area where the signature was applied. Rather, I just apply a bit of gentle heat to level the finish in the area the signature, being very careful to not over heat the flex coat. If I need to wick off any excess finish in the area, I wick it from the side of the rod, where there is no writing.

By using this method, I can inscribe the rod with acrylic ink and then just go straight to a conventional application of finish for the thread wraps, butt wraps and inscriptions with no issues.

However, if I use the brush or spreading tool in the area of the inscription - there is a chance that the inscription will smear.

Best wishes.
