Hey fellas,
Have any of you ever used a fly seat on a light or ultralight spinning rod? The two styles of seats appear to closely resemble in their designs and it is fly seats that have the bigger variety in decorative looks in most rod parts catalogues I see. Can either interchange in rod-building, or are spinning seats and fly seats really too different from one another for that? Just wondering. Looking forward to your replies Re: Q about Fly seats and Spinning seats

Fly reel feet are different than spinning reel seats.
You would have to try before you buy. Herb Re: Q about Fly seats and Spinning seats

Pull out your fly reel and spinning reel out and compare the feet. None of my spinning reels have the the tiny, thin foot found on my fly reels, so none of my fly reel seats except maybe a Ferguson spey seat used long ago would work. There are nice spinning reel seats though, you just haven't looked hard enough to the left in the sponsor section. Re: Q about Fly seats and Spinning seats

A properly designed fly seat will not work for a spinning reel, although the opposite is true on the fly reel fitting some spinning seats as the tolorances are not as critical Ron Weber Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
