No, that was a very old Gudebrod product. The 811 was more modern, fashioned from the Epoxy Coatings Co., SC215 product.

Not sure of the Gudebrod # , I started using it either in 79 or 80, If it's which I believe is #811 and the Epoxy Coating Co. made it, what's the chance of getting it from them. Fishing is not a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that Re: color preserver

The first two rods i built were kits from Herters in the early 60s..they used a lacquer for CP...was that nitrocellulose? just curious..i still have the first rod and the wraps still look good, well for sixty years..lol. Re: color preserver

Epoxy Coatings Co., went out of business sometime in the late 1990's or so. It may have even been the early 2000's. Regardless, that was the end of Gudebrod 811.

There is a great product called CP Extra marketed through VooDoo Rods. It is a product developed by Gene Bullard to go along with his Diamond II finish epoxy. It is crystal clear and does not change the color of the thread in my experience, and I have used it on both Gudebrod and Pro Wrap untreated threads. There is only one drawback I know of, it does not have a great shelf life, thickens over time. Re: color preserver

That is not the product developed by Gene Bullard. That product was also made by Epoxy Coatings Company and Gene could no longer source it once EP Company went out of business. What is sold now is a different product, as is the Diamond II, which was also an EP Company product.
I still have the email from Gene telling me he was going to have to source something else since EP Coatings had folded. ............ Re: color preserver

CPXtra is NOT a Color PReserver, it is a blank coating finsih. IF you waste your $$ On it as a CP, you are going to be @#$%& if you don't test it first. IT will significantly darken the colros, there are hundreds of posts for the last 10 years about it. AS a finish for blanks it's good. Re: color preserver

It serves the same function as Permagloss as I have said many times in the past. It's a little slower to go off. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
