just curious what you guys are loving so far. I haven't built any of mine yet but I think the SJ 736 will be a favorite. Curious if the SJ 725 is more powerful. Russ in Hollywood, FL. Re: Your favorite NFC blank, and has anyone bought a SJ XX5 yet?

I've only built on 3 different NFC blanks. The DS 6107 IM, the MB 709 IM, and the MB 736 X ray, which based on CCS testing I have done, might very well be an SJ736, but who knows. Anyhow ... I truly do love them all, but if I had to pick one rod out of the rods I have built on NFC blanks to fish with, it would be the rod I have built on the MB 709 IM.
Personally I'm hoping that someone has purchased an SB 724 X ray and can provide some CCS numbers for it. I'm looking to build a new spinning rod and it just might be what I'm looking for. (fingers crossed) Re: Your favorite NFC blank, and has anyone bought a SJ XX5 yet?

I have built on 3 NFC blanks and have really liked all of them. 2 FW702's and then an Iconoglas 7' 6" #4. I happen to see them 50% off so took a chance and they have been great. Re: Your favorite NFC blank, and has anyone bought a SJ XX5 yet?

I just built an SJ 736 for a buddy. He was disappointed with the action. Said it wasn't fast enough?? I'm mostly a fly fisherman but seems he was looking for a broomstick. Re: Your favorite NFC blank, and has anyone bought a SJ XX5 yet?

If your buddy wants a broomstick the mb7108 and 9 in The xray line will work.. cut what you need to off the butt.. Re: Your favorite NFC blank, and has anyone bought a SJ XX5 yet?

I have a 725 and it is most definitely not a blank I would use for jerkbaits! I have to put it on the comparator to evaluate against the 736. My suspicion is that it is very close to the 736. I still have to get set up for ccs so that will have to wait a bit Re: Your favorite NFC blank, and has anyone bought a SJ XX5 yet?

Great Thomas! I don't need anything definitive like ccs, nor anything about action/casting/lure ability. Just gut feeling about something like.....if you "had to stop a fish" which one would break first/ or dead lift the most. Don't mean to pressure but I'm not sure how much longer the sale lasts so I need something to go on ASAP. I do expect them to be close but another couple pounds of usable line strength/dead lift would matter to me.
Thanks in advance. Russ in Hollywood, FL. Re: Your favorite NFC blank, and has anyone bought a SJ XX5 yet?

Ok just holding the blanks side by side on the floor with zero load other than gravity, the tip of the 736 flexes more( more along lines of extra fast as compared to the 725) (725 has the more traditional mag bass fast tip) these are just my opinion and certainly purely subjective. I think the 725 is actually the more powerful of the two. I will put on the board sometime today. Gotta get these builds I am working on wrapped up. It’s -23 windchill right now so I will be at the bench for the day. It’s close to the wood stove too!! Re: Your favorite NFC blank, and has anyone bought a SJ XX5 yet?

Thomas, is the 725 you're referencing an MB blank, or an SB blank? Re: Your favorite NFC blank, and has anyone bought a SJ XX5 yet?

David, it’s an SJ. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
