New builder here. I'm building a Lamiglas BMB842F salt water rod for a friend. He purchased the carbon fiber grips and I need to ream them out. The problem I'm having is with the foregrip. The carbon fiber wraps around the ends are to narrow for the blank. If I ream out the foam I will hit the fibers. I'm not sure what to do. Should I get a different foregrip or is it ok to ream it?
Thanks Rick Re: Grip Question

You can trim the fibers to the diameter or a bit shy of the diameter of the component it will butt up against. In this case the seat and a winding check. Sometimes reaming through the fiber can make it catch a fray. If you carefully trim it you can also glue the ends back down if needed prior to final install to keep the strand tight. You can carefully trim the fiber ends to the diameter you need with a Dremel and then finish reaming out the foam. Re: Grip Question

I just drill it to the correct size, take care not to make the bore too large, so start out with undersized bits and test before going up a bit size. Snug fit is good. Frayed fibers can be cleaned up with a small file, Dremel or sandpaper wrapped around a pencil. A winding check will cover any rough looking cuts. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
