My early 1980's Clemens rod lathe the rollers on the thread carriage base had started to fail. I needed new replacement parts so I checkout Renzetti's a sponsor on your site. The folks at Renzetti we so polite and helpful, they hooked me up with a great replacement set up. Thanks to Renzetti for helping me out.

Great people who make a long lasting quality product! An appreciated change from our throw away society mind set. My Renzetti Traveler fly vise has been a pleasure to use for 20 years.

Like Ron I also have a Clemens lathe circa 1980. I have replaced many of the components with Renzetti parts never had any issues. Its still a great lathe.

I have a Clemens lathe too, I think it’s the best rod lathe ever made. I just turned a reelseat insert with it with no problems. My question is I would like to change the part on the thread carriage that puts pressure on the thread. Does anyone make better parts to tighten the thread?

The original carriage as supplied used two metal plates that were tightened against each other with spring pressure for thread tension. Renzetti changed to a more common coil spring per spool by the mid 1980's. You can buy the 8-spool carrier that will mount to your rolling carriage as-is.
