Would anyone care to comment on advantages of
Carbon fiber blanks vs graphite .
I certainly see advantages in the grips
Just not knowledgeable enough about blanks in general
Thank you
John d

John,
Unless someone can tell me differently - I believe that Carbon fibre and graphite are identical. i.e. you can use either term to describe the same blank.

i.e. Graphite is carbon. Carbon fibers make rod blanks. Graphite fibers make rod blanks. Fibers make rod blanks and the material may be the same material called Carbon or graphite.

Be safe

Take care

When referring to rod blanks Carbon fiber and graphite are the same thing, and most people use the terms interchangeably. There are differences between the carbon fiber/graphite materials used to manufacture a blank. These differences include the modulus (stiffness) of the carbon fiber and the resins used to hold the fibers together. Higher modulus carbon fiber / graphite is more expensive to make than lower modulus. The higher modulus blanks also tend to be lighter and more sensitive.

The above replies are correct; graphite is carbon. The confusion arises due to years of people bastardizing the two terms. In the composite world, “graphite” is generally considered the powder, or extremely short fiber, form whereas “Carbon fiber” is considered just that, the fiber form in very long lengths as in cloth.
