Ok I am thinking 1 of 3 for bombing 3/8-1/2oz maybe 3/4 oz crankbaits. I have only build one other casting rod and one other spinning. The casting was a Judge Crankbait rod which is amazing! I can jack them smallies on 10xd's and power crank em in to the boat and flip em in. they dont get off. In case it matters, I crank with braid to fluoro leader and that will not change because it has always worked great for me.
I dont want to spend another 150+ for a blank. So I am looking at the three following blanks: Rod Geeks SG79MM AT Bushido CB78/8-15 MHX CB903-Blend I am guessing the Rod geeks may be the closest to the judge. the judge seems to be about 50% s-glass 50% carbon. I dont know the exact portions but that is what it appears to be to me. Anyone with any experience with these let me know your thoughts. Thanks. Edited 3 time(s). I have never used the Rod Geeks blank, but the St. Croix 7 ft MM blanks, in glass and graphite I built and use wouldn't be my choice, both the glass and graphite version in the MH power I think would be a better choice, especially if it sees cranks in the heavier / deeper weights more than the smaller ones. My guess is that the 8 ft. blanks you have seen reviews on are now the shorter blanks due to shipping costs of the longer lengths. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/09/2021 12:06AM by Spencer Phipps. I ordered. Two blanks. Going to slap on some Fazlite guides, Arowana tip and still deciding on the reel seat. Maybe the ACS since it really locks my hand on and gives me a lot of control but I might try something new.
