I see NFC lists their new SJ 725-1 with a higher line rating, higher casting weight, larger tip and butt than the SJ 736-1. However they call the SJ 725 Med-Heavy and the SJ 736 Heavy.

Normally I'd just assume the listed ratings are reversed for the SJ 725-1 and SJ 736-1. However I did find the SJ 732-1 was more powerful than the SJ 703-1. So I'm not sure what to think. Do any of you have any idea?

How any of the manufactures design and build a rod is not static, there are many ways to skin the cat. More graphite with less diameter does the same job as less graphite and larger diameter as far as power goes, we have to sometimes ask what the designer was looking for when he built the blank, these blanks are brand new and that information isn't available yet and I doubt many have actually handled them, let alone fished them.

I hear you Spencer. NFC just seems a little harder to deal with. I have never had a situation where a given brands (same series/type) medium blank was lower powered than their medium light one.

But hey, they are definitely getting their act together. I'm buying and hoping for the best. Just not sure I'm buying that the SJ 725 is stronger than the SJ 736.

There are always some anomalies in rod blanks, there were a few in the Lamiglas XMG50 line and I'm sure they weren't the only ones that have had them.
