Yes, the dryer with a good tying jig w/ tensioner was definitely a game changer. So much easier. The wraps on the rebuild are not as tight as I would like. I can see some rod color under the wraps in places. My fault. In my haste to get started with the dryer, I forgot to burnish the wraps again. Overall, and considering what I knew a month ago, I am very pleased with the first rebuild. I now have a sound, light, and strong rod made out of something I couldn't give away before. After reading Rodgers post above I have changed to this method of finishing and has really improved my finish.Being an amature and cheep I put a variable dimer switch in my power cord for a power wrapper and it works great.I made a separate cord to plug in to motor and did not disturbe my foot pedal cord! Update: I have taken all of your advice from practicing wraps on an old broken blank to replacing old guides and building a rod from scratch after stripping an old rod down to its blank. I am now completing my fist build from a new blank. It is a 6'6" med. light spinning rod, cork grip, and single wraps with a trim on the guides. I finished the epoxy of guides today. It really looks good. I hope to keep it to one coat on the wraps. It is so light and comfortable. I wish it was for me. Oh yea-- I can make another! Thank you for all of the help.
