I have clients complaining that nut on Fuji ecsm is not tightening down on the shimano metanium reel foot. They’re shimming it with paper or a toothpick. Anybody else having this issue? Does anyone know the length on the foot? Re: Shimano Metanium

The problem could also be a narrower and/or thinner foot, or different shaped "arch" to the foot. Have a client bring in the rod and reel so you can compare the foot to a "normal" Shimano. If these rods had different reels on them previously, the reel seat hood may have stretched open a bit making it so a smaller foot can't be clamped down tight. Re: Shimano Metanium

I don't know about the Fuji ECSM reel seat, but I have the same problem with the Alps MVT reel seat and the Curado 200 I's and K's With the I's and K's the hood will tighten completely against the reel seat body. The reel is tight in the seat, but it isn't, if you know what I mean. I don't have that problem if I put one of my older Curado 200 Ds on the same rod. I use a couple of small pieces of aluminum tape, like that used on duct work, to add thickness and a little bit of length to the rear portion of the reel's foot to cure the problem. Edited 1 time(s). What David Baylor said, wrap the reel foot with aluminium duct tape or electrical tape to fill in the difference.
