I want to inlay a feather on a bamboo reel seat. Will epoxy be ok?

Depends on the feather, but I never use epoxy. Softer feathers are set in CP, stiffer feathers I set in water based urethane , as the stiffer feather parts pop up you can stick them down again in the thickening urethane. I use my wrapping spatula to set the feathers.

From my experience you need to apply CP to feathers to maintain opacity and true color. Not perfect, but much better than just applying epoxy. I put CP onto the blank then carefully apply the feathers to that. You'll find that the less you have to move them or do anything to them, the better. Have your design well planned before starting. Often I'll do the inlay in layers, letting the one layer dry before applying a second, or third. Often I have to apply several coats of epoxy to finish them properly. One can sand off protruding stems in some cases to get a thinner inlay.

Practice. And do an internet search-I'll bet there are some tutorials out there.

Sounds like you want to do a single feather, so simply apply the CP where you want the feather and place it. When it dries, another thin coat of CP, then wrap epoxy.
