Epoxy Over Decal Repair

I have one small spot on a Decal that has repelled epoxy. After searching the forum archives I see many solutions and probable causes. Through knowledge learned here and repetition I have become fairly proficient at finishing, however I still ended up with a small spot. I Think this spot was caused by my warming the area with my Bubble Buster Torch. Everything was great until I used the torch as a final step to level the Finish. ( I probably didn’t need this step and will be removing it from the process)
Here was my process, Applied first coat of finish on Guide wraps and Areas where decals will be applied. After finish cured 24 hrs, I applied my logo Decal, the manufacture Decal, and an inscription Decal. I applied the second coat of finish starting at the tip top and finished at the handle. As a final step I warm all the finish areas with an Alcohol Torch to help leveling of long areas. Everything worked out great with the exception of one spot that repelled on my logo Decal. I attempted to agitate the small area while the finish was curing to get it to adhere. I reduced the size of the area but there is still one small spot. So finally here is the question. Can I , Should I cover this area with Color Preserver and finish again? I wasn’t sure about CP over Epoxy. I don’t want to sand it because the Decal is exposed and I don’t want to damage it. Should I wash the area that repelled Epoxy with water and mild soap? Thanks for Advise Re: Epoxy Over Decal Repair

I Coated The Label areas with Flex Coat Color Preserver, Gave both areas a coat of epoxy. On the Drier for 20minutes so far, no issues yet. Time will tell. Re: Epoxy Over Decal Repair

Adding CP to a decal surface is always a good idea.
Epoxy does not need heat in order to level. It will do so automatically if you'll leave it alone. ........ Re: Epoxy Over Decal Repair

Color Preserver worked well. I was unsure initially if I should use it over a coat of epoxy. Re: Epoxy Over Decal Repair

I may suggest a butane torch to replace the alcohol burner....I got better results when I switched. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
