Will Denatured Alcohol Strip Gloss Coat?

I typically use Permagloss to apply a gloss coat over matte rods. This time I used CPXtra on a whim. I installed my reel seat today and used denatured alcohol to wipe off excess epoxy. The denatured alcohol took off the CPXtra.

Is this expected? Will denatured alcohol take off Permagloss as well?

one thing if the epoxy was not HARD & DRY, I think they are going to do some of your problem , it has to be real hard an dry, I think , could be wrong ??

Denatured Alcohol will not touch PermaGloss.

Carlos,
Bill and Tom are correct; DNA should not affect PG unless applied very soon to the fresh PG. I suspect the “whim” material you implied was a single-part, oil/solvent based product which “dries” by evaporation rather than “cures” by catalytic reaction. Why deviate from a tried-and-trued product like PG? Granted, PG is a moisture-curing material and thus not a true catalyzed product in the true sense of the word, but it’s ease of application, quick setting/curing time, quite durable and glossy finish and UV protection is basically unrivaled. The only other product which might be better is an automotive catalyzed urethane clear but the cost is certainly prohibitive and ultimately (most likely) more difficult to apply.
